Soccer star Hope Solo arrested for assault

Kirkland police say Solo was booked on two domestic violence assaults shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday.

Officers arrived at a home in the 10600 block of 124th AVE NE after a 911 call stated a woman at the residence was "hitting people," and that she refused to stop or leave.

"A caller reported a person was a bit out of control," Lt. Mike Murray with the Kirkland Police Department said. "She appeared intoxicated and belligerent to some of the officers there."

Witnesses reported to officers that Solo was the aggressor who instigated the assaults.

"There were two people there with obvious injuries about their face. There was some redness and swelling, it looked like they'd been struck," Lt. Mike Murray said. "They indicated that they had been (struck), and that the person who hit them was Hope Stevens, Hope Stevens Solo."

Solo was processed Saturday morning at the South Correctional Entity (SCORE) in Des Moines, and will have a mandatory court appearance June 23 in the Kirkland Muncipal Court.

This isn't the first altercation Solo has had with Kirkland police. Reports show police were called to a disturbance at Solo's Kirkland home in the early morning hours on Nov. 12, 2012.

Solo and her brother blamed a disturbance on three unknown men. Officers maintained they had probable cause to arrest former NFL tight end Jerramy Stevens because they observed evidence of an altercation, including a cut on Solo's elbow, and his admission that the two had argued, according to court documents.

The next day, Solo and Stevens were married. Solo posted a smiling photo of herself with Stevens to Twitter two days later.

The 32-year-old Richland native played for the University of Washington, and is currently the goalkeeper for Seattle Reign FC in the National Women's Soccer League.

"We are aware of the situation with Hope and are now gathering information," the Reign posted on the team's Twitter feed.
