Country Music Festival In Foxborough Has Tailgate Trouble
FOXBOROUGH, MA (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Foxborough's Gillette Stadium served as the home for a massive concert music concert series from July 26th that drew more than 50,000 country music fans, and more than a few headaches for police and local paramedics.
The New England Country Music Festival was a standing room only event that brought some of the biggest names in country music including Kenny Chesney, Hall of Famer Sammy Hager, and Grammy winners Keith Urban and LeAnn Rimes to Gillette Stadium, the home of the NFL's New England Patriots.
According to the Boston Globe, numerous people came to the event to tailgate in the parking lot without tickets to get into the concert. Police on the scene arrested 76 people for numerous reasons, including minor-in-possession charges, disorderly conduct, assault and other charges. Police reported several fights as well, leading to numerous minor injuries.
Additionally, numerous people were charged with trespassing when they were discovered in the parking lot without an event ticket, as required by stadium policy.
Not every incident stemming from the tailgating was minor, and two women who had been at the stadium without tickets were killed, and a third seriously injured in a traffic accident after leaving the event.
"It's basically an all-day thing. They start early and try to stay in there as long as they can," Captain David Healy of the Foxborough Fire Department told the Globe. "We gear up for it. Once the gates open to the stadium and the fans come in, it's usually a short time thereafter that the calls start picking up." – CelebrityAccess Staff Writer
