Chyler Leigh and Sadie Laflamme-Snow Get Candid on Season Two of The Way Home (Exclusive)

No need to jump into a pond to go back and hear Chyler Leigh and Sadie Laflamme-Snow talk about season two of The Way Home –– we’ve got you covered.

Hallmark held a star-studded red carpet on Wednesday (January 17) in honor of the multi-generational drama coming back for its second season later tonight (January 21). The series, which follows Kat Landry (Chyler), her mom Del (Andie MacDowell) and Kat’s teenage daughter Alice (Snow), gives viewers a look into how the strong-willed and independent trio dives into family issues, both past and present. And despite trying to heal the wounds that haunt them, the Landry women find a way to come together-with the help of a little time travel, of course.

Alongside a private screening of the first episode — which left our jaws on the ground and our minds in Port Haven — Celeb Secrets caught up with the leading ladies for all the tea.

“We keep things very raw and real,” Chyler explained on why the show has resonated so deeply with fans, “and kind of guttural and we don’t really paint a pretty picture on anything and we’re really trying to show the fact that relationships are broken. They are not always going to be perfect.”

She added, “Between mother, daughter and mother, daughter, it’s going to look like something different for everybody.”

And this type of dynamic has made an impact on the audience-a fact made clear to Chyler first-hand. “What I love so much is that we’ve gotten so many compliments from fans and viewers that have said, ‘You know, even though I don’t have the exact scenario, I can find myself in these characters,'” she recounted. “And that goes to show we are doing something right.”

Sadie echoed her costar’s sentiments, telling Celeb Secrets, “We hear a lot from people, ‘I sat and watched this with my mom’ or ‘I sat and watched this with my daughter,’ and I think we see the unique challenges of all generations and they are all taken with care and sincerity.”

The actress admitted that in this series, stereotypes go out the window. “It’s not, ‘Oh that bratty teenager or, ‘Oh that awkward mom,'” Sadie continued. “Everyone’s a real person and I think that women of all generations are excited to see that and to see it with their moms or with their daughters and talk about it.”

As for what fans can expect from season two? Well, Sadie simply described the season in three words: epic, heartbreak and Jacob. And as Chyler put it: “Oh my god.”

And of course, if time travel were to exist in our reality, both stars know exactly where they’d want to go.

“I had said at one point the ’20s but I think the ’70s would be really fun,” Chyler confessed. “The early ’70s.”

Sadie’s trip would span a few years later, as she chimed in: “I would go to a time where I could go to a Whitney Houston concert.”

But along with the fantasy of the space-time continuum, The Way Home has a larger message to leave fans with.

“The show deals with the question of what would you do if you had more time,” Sadie reflected. “And it makes us want to use the time that we have to say the stuff that Alice and Kat go back in time to say to the people that they love.”
