Buchwald Hires Gayla Nethercott Acquires Field-Cech Literary Agency
LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — According to Variety, Don Buchwald & Associates, a talent agency known for representing actors and Howard Stern, is building a literary department.
The agency has acquired Field-Cech Literary Agency and hired Gayla Nethercott to manage Buchwald's new literary department. Between the Field-Cech roster and those brought in by Nethercott, Buchwald will add about sixty writer and director clients.
Nethercott, who spent twelve years at Broder Kurland Webb Uffner, ran her own management company for the past four years. She was considering a merger with Maggie Field and Judy Cech, who started their agency in 1985, but instead, Nethercott took the Buchwald job and Buchwald acquired the other agency.
Field and Cech will become consultants during the transition period. Nethercott will be hiring two agents to help her handle the workload.
The new department will also handle the lit aspirations of DBA actor-filmmaker clients that include Martin Donovan, Mary Stuart Masterson and Ralph Macchio.
